Sterner Automation Delivers a Flexible Communication Interface for Testing
Today's automotive applications demand flexible integration tools to ensure test equipment can meet changing
technological and communication requirements. Sterner Automation has developed the next generation of testing
interface solutions specially designed to address multiple technologies, including occupant classification systems
(OCS). The Sterner interface box (SIB) provides our customers with the capability to efficiently operate, monitor and
report on end-of-line (EOL) test equipment anywhere in the world.
The Sterner SIB Guarantees Seamless Communication
- Provides a universal interface between the electronic control unit (ECU) and EOL testers
- Supports RS232 or ethernet connection to EOL testers as well as ethernet connection to factory information systems (FIS)
- Delivers flexible control of the test process sequence and can function as a master, simple slave or process aware slave
- Allows access to the ECU variables through memory or tag (PID, DID messages)
- Tests, emulates and performs data acquisition for ratio-metric, voltage and current output sensors, including pressure sensors, belt tension sensors (BTS), seat belt buckle switches (SBBS) and seat track position sensors (STPS)
- Capable of customizing test process sequences and performing custom test calculations and algorithms
- Sterner Automation's proprietary vehicle electronic serial interface (VESI) supports all major automotive communication protocols
- Compatible with PLC or PC-based controls and features a quick reference diagnostic and test result LCD readout
- Rugged rack mount enclosure with carrying handles and standardized connectors allow for simple installation
- Remote access, using telephone modem or internet, provides immediate diagnosis and software updates
- User-friendly USB port application allows for local software upgrades and traceability data transfer
- Optional local database storage is available for traceability requirements
The Sterner SIB Improves Efficiency
- Reduces costs by providing single source test and communication integration
- Maintains production efficiency with remote diagnostics and 24-7 service support
- Adapts to required changes and upgrades throughout the SIB life cycle
